Rapunzel - 2021

What is this project?

Rapunzel is a stop-motion doll animation that I created together with three classmates as an assignment at Animationsakademien. The assignment was to take an assigned piece of folklore or an old story and reinterpret it in a new way.

We chose to give Rapunzel a darker and more contemporary tone. Our version follows a woman with agoraphobia who lives in isolation in an apartment and struggles to leave due to her anxiety. Rather than being rescued by a prince, she ultimately finds the strength to overcome her fears on her own.

The film has since reached over 1.1 million views on YouTube.
